Trip to Richmond

Sean is becoming a real jet-setter! Last weekend we took a trip up to Richmond to celebrate his Grandaddy's birthday and to visit with his Grandma Leigh, Aunt Michelle, Aunt Megan and Uncle Marshall. It was a really fun weekend, some of us went to watch the horse races on Saturday (Mike, Gale and Katie came all the way from Chesapeake!) while Sean relaxed with his Great-Grandma and Great-Grandaddy Bryant. You realize just how fast he's growing when you don't get to see family all the time. It's so special for Sean to be able to spend time with everyone. He loved it and I'm pretty sure the rest of the family did, too :)

Sean was fascinated with Uncle Marshall's guitar playing :)

I Can Crawl!

It seems Sean has mastered the art of the commando-crawl. He's so excited to be on the move that he smiles and giggles the whole time he's sliding across the room. He's learned that he can move faster on the wood floors and in the bathroom on the tiles. Lookout world!

10 Months

There's something about moving into double digit months that has me a bit sentimental. In just two months my baby will be a full year old. In just two months he won't need formula anymore. In just two months he'll be even taller and moving around the house like crazy. I know that people try to prepare you when you're about to become a parent that time flies, but I really don't think I was prepared for how fast it actually feels. Seeing your baby have so many firsts is exciting and makes you proud, but each first means another check on the list, another accomplishment. All we can do it try to be fully present every day with Sean and remember to remember because it's gone in a heartbeat.

Still Dancing!

I'm happy to report that Sean hasn't lost his groove. Now he likes to play with two music toys at a time. Maybe my idea of him being a boater isn't quite right.... maybe he'll be a boating DJ! :)

9 1/2 Months

I'm on an absolute roll tonight with the blog so I wanted to post Sean's 9 month pictures (technically about 9 1/2 months.... mom was slacking). I just adore this t-shirt. I tell Sean every morning that he's going to turn into a Cheerio if he doesn't stop eating so many for breakfast. His new favorite trick is to throw them on the floor for Polly (who waits diligently every morning) then look over the side and say 'OOOOO' (his version of 'uh-oh'). How can you get mad at something so cute?

First Plane Ride

Well we survived our first round trip plane ride. It really wasn't so bad but it sure takes a lot of planning and organization. Thankfully Sean did really well on the way to Annapolis (he fell asleep before we took off and didn't wake up until we landed) but was a little more "energetic" on the way home. An hour delay didn't make it any easier - you know it's never good when you taxi to the runway and then the pilot announces they're turning off the engines to conserve fuel. Normally that would be fine with me, I'd either take a nap or read but now we're "those people" with a crying baby. But, I'd take that over an 8 hour drive any day!!

Sean's Omi and Great-Grandma & Grandpa Jacobs

We were fortunate to have my Omi, Grandma and Grandpa visit over Memorial Day weekend. Sean was able to spend some nice time with all of them, including Button (Grandma and Grandpa's dog). He thought Button was awesome!

New Toys

We had a lot of fun playing on mom and dad's new toys. I think John must have logged at least 8 hours in 2 days on the wave runners!

Pinch Me!

Sean really seemed to like my dad's new boat, Pinch Me. He did so well and even took a nice nap Sunday afternoon. I think we may have a future boater on our hands. John and I are so excited!

Sean traveled in style up and down the pier is this exquisite wagon. I think it's safe to say by looking at the last picture that it is a cushy ride!

Our Mailbox Guardian

A few weeks ago we noticed some birds building a next in our mailbox. We didn't think a whole lot of it- usually they decide it's too small and way to hot to stay. Well wouldn't you know it, I walked by not too long after that and this little guy was standing like a bouncer in the opening. I thought that they must have decided to stay so he was guarding the eggs. I didn't want to scar him so I took some pictures from the other side of the street and zoomed in as much as my camera would let me. Well wouldn't you know that there were actually babies in the back! It was so sunny I couldn't see them until I came inside and looked back through the pictures. How cool!

Mother's Day

My boys took me to a park in South Carolina for a Mother's Day cookout. It was really nice - the weather was great and we got to try out John's Margaritaville Grill that I got him for Christmas. Now that we have the hang of it I think we're ready for some VT tailgates! BTW - look at all of Sean's teeth!

More Pool Pics

Pool

We got an inflatable pool last weekend for Sean. He wasn't quite sure about it at first but once we got him some toys to play with (including Polly - you'll see she got in on the fun, too) he loved it. I think he stayed in for an hour and a half at least, his poor little toes were all pruney by the time we pulled him out :) Why John never set up a pool for me last year in all my pregnant glory I'll never know. If we're gonna keep doing this I think we need to get some privacy bushes for the back yard... hahah!

Very Late 8 Month Pictures

Ok so I know Sean will be 9 months this week but here are his 8 month pictures I forgot to post!

Move to the Music

Sean's really starting to enjoy music. He does a funny wiggle, clap and head shake that you can see in this video. I love it!

This past weekend was a lot of fun. We had to get Sean a big boy car seat because he's reached the weight max on his current one (gasp! - I know.... 22 pounds already). He still has to face backwards until he's 1 year which is a bummer but I can't wait for our Ward beach vacation in August - it will be his first trip facing forward :) Sean has been laughing all the time. He seems to have a similar sense of humor as I do... he likes it when I'm silly with him and dance around in the kitchen (an old habit from childhood, right mom?), hide in the pantry and run after Polly. He also really likes watching John dance around like Elvis ;) I truly enjoy being with him, I guess it's just fun to have someone else in the family, someone you don't have to try to impress, someone that laughs at your jokes, someone to enjoy the simple things in life with... or who reminds you to enjoy those simple things. I think I'm in love.

We're going to have some fun trying to tame this hair!
Action shot - playing outside over the weekend:
And so it starts.... :)
I just LOVE this little man - he already has such a good sense of humor!
(and yes, I know the stains on the high chair are gross, don't worry, I cleaned it this weekend!)

Some new video posts

This was taken a few weeks ago. Sean loves to bounce to the music while watching all of his pictures on the Apple TV. Notice how he stops bouncing when the song ends and starts again when a new song starts :)

I'm glad I got a video of this next one because Sean's already gotten too big to sit in the laundry basket (he's learned how to flip out!). For a while we would put him there while we got ready in the morning, all the while he'd sing to us. It's funny how fast things come and go at this age.

Finally, we took this yesterday. I found a great swing for Sean at BJs - I think he likes it a lot better than the toddler swing we got with the set. I'm so happy he enjoys being outside and playing.... I think we're going to have a great summer :)
