Weekend Fun

We had a fun weekend - Sean got to meet baby Grant (who is 3 weeks old.... we didn't get a picture but he was adorable!) and play with baby Julia (they played so well together, it was so cute). Then we took Polly out on the boat for a nice Sunday afternoon ride. We threw her in a few times which was pretty funny.

Beach Vacation 2010

Here are some pictures from our beach vacation to Ocean Isle. We had such a great time - the beach was beautiful and the house was awesome. It's always so hard to sum up a trip in just a few pictures - there's so many good ones! Sean really enjoyed the beach (he loved eating sand and seashells) and his birthday party was a hit! Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes, presents and party :)

1 Year Old!

Well I can't believe our baby is actually a year old. What a year! Sean has really started growing into a fun and loveable little guy and I honestly can't imagine our lives without him. Here's to many, many more birthday celebrations to come. We Love You!

Our New Toy

Well John's hopes and dreams have finally come true. I'm proud to say that we're boat owners! John has been looking for the perfect boat for, it's safe to say, about 6 years. Finally this little beauty came along.... we're SO excited. Sean test drove with us this weekend and seemed to especially love going fast :)

Best Friends

I'm starting to get very sentimental now that my baby is almost a year old. Over the past year he and Polly have certainly grown close. Here's a quick slide show of some of my favorite pictures of the pair.

I'm Walkin' (kinda)... Yes Indeed

Well we finally gave in. All recent research says that walkers are bad, they develop the wrong leg muscles and actually hinder infant walking rather than help it. Oh well! Since Sean isn't showing any interest in standing or pulling himself up, we thought a walker would be a good way to show him how much fun it could be. He seems to love it... he makes this funny laugh/squeal the whole time. I just hope our furniture can hold up ;)

It was a bit early, but since we won't be able to be in Maryland for my mom's 60th birthday, we were able to completely surprise her by having a chef come to the house for a wonderful dinner!

Naturally big babies

We're really starting to see how flexible Sean is and his lack of interest in standing. Last night in one of my weekly emails, I saw this:

"Naturally big babies—children who are clearly going to become tall and big-boned adults—sometimes take a little longer to learn to walk. They just have that much more body to learn to operate. In addition, large babies can be a little extra flexible in their joints and ligaments. They simply need to let their muscles grow a little stronger to control their joints and limbs well enough to walk steadily."

Interesting!

This weekend we went to a 1st birthday party for Sean's friend Ethan. The party was a lot of fun and Ethan is SO NICE... he hugged and kissed Sean a lot. It was so cute - like they decided they would be best friends for ever and ever. I don't think he quite understood why Sean didn't want to run around with him though :)

Busy Saturday

We had a busy Saturday - first we went to the Tripp Triplets 1st birthday party (it was awesome - take a look at the cake!), home for a quick nap, then to the pool for the Blues, Brews and BBQ party. Sean is a real party animal.... he didn't go to bed until after 9:00!! YIKES!

Brag on Pop-Pop

I can't help but post this to brag on my Dad for a few minutes (after all it was father's day this past weekend, right?). Congratulations, Dad!! :)

L-3 Chesapeake Sciences Corp., which creates anti-submarine warfare systems and other submarine devices, opened its doors to federal, state and town officials Monday at its new home at Hopkinton Industrial Park, a 220,000-squarefoot, multi-business facility near Interstate 95's Exit 1.

The company, headquartered in Millersville, Md., moved its Stonington division across the border to Rhode Island in February, inching it closer to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport while maintaining proximity to the submarine base in Groton.

L-3 CSC now employs 34 full-time people - mostly existing employees with a couple of new hires - but it hopes to increase its Ashaway workforce to 120 within three years, said L- 3 CSC President John C. McDaris.

"There are a number of opportunities within the Navy that demand some expansion and some acceleration," he said. "There's some work that we're currently outsourcing to other places that we plan to bring here into the Ashaway facility."

Future jobs would include engineering, manufacturing and testing, he said.

L-3 CSC is expected to be under a $3.8 million defense contract to install TB-33 Thin Line Towed Array systems on all classes of U.S. submarines. Simply put, the device acts as the "eyes and ears" for submarines to detect threats, McDaris said.
