Easter 2014

We had lots of visitors over Easter weekend and we couldn’t have been happier.  Even through all of the rain that weekend (and trust me – there was A LOT of rain) we had we kept very busy!

We spent lots of time on the back deck around the fire…DSC03405DSC03401DSC03407

Daddy’s Birthday

We were all very excited to wish Daddy a Happy Birthday!! Our little family loves any excuse for yellow cake and chocolate icing, too, so that’s just what we did.  DSC03369

Getting a decent picture of my three boys is next to impossible – it’s a bit like herding cats.  But I love them all just the same!

Easter Egg Hunt

The boys were very excited for this year’s community Easter egg hunt.  We had lot of fun before and after the hunt, too – there was a train that took us for a ride around the block, cotton candy and slushies!

Best Movie Trailer EVER

I really think that this is the best movie trailer ever made.  I could watch it every day.  The Disney movie Frozen has taken our kids over by storm and the boys L.O.V.E. singing the song ‘Let It Go’ all day every day!

Quick Visit from Grandma & Grandaddy

Grandma and Grandaddy came down for a quick visit to check on Daddy (he had ear surgery at the beginning of the month – something I won’t post about because you know how he likes his privacy :) but not to worry, he made a full recovery!) and give lots of kisses to the boys.

Riding Bikes

Sean has been very excited to ride his bike (with training wheels) with me around the neighborhood.  He especially likes that he gets do to this very grown up activity while Dylan takes a nap!

Mommy’s Birthday

I was spoiled by my boys again this year for my birthday.  Daddy made the best yellow cake and chocolate icing a girl could ask for and I enjoyed opening all of the presents (especially the replacement wine glasses that have survived since my trip with Carolyn to Napa Valley!) and cards from friends and family.  I couldn’t ask for anything more!

Finally! Snow!!

We had a fun winter this year and had TWO SEPARATE occasions where it snowed!  For our friends and family who are up north or in Colorado, you will laugh at this.  But if you live in Charlotte, you know that it’s not every year when you can break out a sled.  Sean swore he’d never even been in a sled (he was, I think back in 2010, and if I recall, it was mostly ice, not snow) and this was Dylan’s first snow experience!  Of course, we were laughing at our new neighbors from New Jersey – he was out shoveling his driveway during the thick of it.  We learned early on (and he will too) that down here, there’s no need to own a shovel.  No matter how much snow you get, it will always melt within a day or two, which is always well before any of the schools will be reopened or stores will be restocked.  But it was cute seeing someone with a shovel – reminded us of home!

We had so much time on our hands that we even made a gingerbread house.  Well, Dylan ate most of his candy (see the icing around his lips?) but Sean was very serious about the matter.

Folks, it was so cold that Polly took one look at the grass, turned around, looked at me, and peed on the front porch.  What a heathen.
